Automatic Driving Lessons in Dublin
Automatic driving lessons in Dublin
Dublin is the busiest learning environment in Ireland: four RSA test centres, four Local Authorities and a Georgian core ringed by the M50. We deliver automatic driving lessons across the whole city in the Toyota Yaris Hybrid, with an 85% pass rate (per RSA School of Motoring) and 35 certified instructors (per RSA School of Motoring) across the wider RSA School of Motoring network. The four Dublin RSA test centres are Finglas, Tallaght, Raheny and Dun Laoghaire (per rsa.ie).
What Dublin coverage looks like
Dublin is organised into four Local Authorities: Dublin City, Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown, Fingal and South Dublin (per gov.ie). We run 96 dedicated neighbourhood landing pages under those four LAs, covering the areas that the legacy Autobility site served. Fifteen legacy URLs were consolidated via 301 redirect when the brand joined RSA School of Motoring, so old bookmarks continue to resolve. Each LA has its own hub page from here, and each neighbourhood page names its nearest test centre. If you have any questions before booking, call 01 902 3100 and the team will walk you through the details. Pickup is built into the lesson price, so there is no separate travel fee on top of the lesson itself. Block packages are the most cost-effective way to cover the full EDT programme in one booking. Your Approved Driving Instructor will track progress against the EDT Learner Logbook at the end of every session (per rsa.ie).
What learning in Dublin feels like
Dublin driving mixes the Georgian one-way core of Dublin 1 and Dublin 2 with the M50 orbital that rings the city. Learners encounter bus-lane enforcement, contraflow cycle lanes, Luas tram tracks on O'Connell Street and at St Stephen's Green, dense roundabout clusters on the M50 interchanges, and a 30 km/h limit across much of the city centre. Coastal DART stations at Howth, Clontarf and Dun Laoghaire create school-run spikes in the morning, while Tallaght and Blanchardstown produce the heaviest M50 feeder traffic. The major arteries are the M50 orbital, the M1 to Belfast, the N4 to Sligo, the N7 to Limerick, the N11 to Wexford and the N3 to Cavan. If that sounds like a lot, it is; that is exactly why we pair you with a local instructor who already knows the one-ways, the bus lanes and the Luas lines in your neighbourhood. If you have any questions before booking, call 01 902 3100 and the team will walk you through the details.
Dublin RSA test centres
Dublin has four RSA test centres (per rsa.ie). Finglas sits in the Fingal Local Authority and serves the north-west of the city. Tallaght sits in South Dublin and is one of the busiest test centres in the country. Raheny is inside Dublin City Council and covers the east coast corridor. Dun Laoghaire is inside Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown and serves the south-east suburbs. Your neighbourhood page will name the nearest centre and give a rough distance; waiting times are not published here because the RSA is the authoritative source. If you have any questions before booking, call 01 902 3100 and the team will walk you through the details.

Dublin learner FAQs
Do you cover my area in Dublin?
We cover 96 Dublin neighbourhoods across the four Local Authorities, with dedicated landing pages for each. Start with the Local Authority directory above, pick your nearest neighbourhood, and you will find pickup details and a named test centre. If your area is not listed, call 01 902 3100 and we will confirm pickup availability in minutes.
Which test centre is nearest to me?
It depends on your neighbourhood. Dublin has four RSA test centres: Finglas (Fingal), Tallaght (South Dublin), Raheny (Dublin City) and Dun Laoghaire (Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown) (per rsa.ie). Each neighbourhood page on this site names the nearest centre and gives a rough distance. We do not publish waiting times here because the RSA updates them directly.
How do tram tracks and bus lanes affect the test?
Dublin has Luas Red and Green line tracks running through the city centre, and extensive bus and contraflow cycle lanes. The RSA tests you on lane discipline, observation and positioning, and expects you to handle tram tracks safely. Your instructor will rehearse the actual test routes used at your centre, so by the morning of the test the tracks and bus lanes are familiar territory.
Do you do pickup and drop-off?
Yes. We pick up and drop off at home, college, work or a safe parking point within the covered area of your chosen neighbourhood. The Toyota Yaris Hybrid is the lesson car and the car used in the pretest with car hire option, which means no surprises on test day.
How long does the EDT take?
Essential Driver Training is a minimum of 12 one-hour lessons with an ADI (per rsa.ie). Most learners spread those 12 lessons over two to three months, at a pace that fits work, college and life. You cannot sit the Category B driving test until the 12 EDT lessons are logged and signed off (per rsa.ie), and many learners book additional lessons before their test date.
