Settle in
Door-to-door pickup, cockpit walk-through, the basics. Within fifteen minutes you're rolling on a quiet street. No clutch drill, no biting-point hour spent in a car park.
Lessons 1-3Stop-start on the quays. Hill starts from Killiney to Howth. Dual-carriageway merges into Tallaght and Swords.
Three places where a clutch costs learners Grade 2 faults on test day. We teach automatic only, across 96 neighbourhoods and all four Dublin local authorities. Door-to-door pickup included.
Pick the area you learn in. Each LA page has the test centres, neighbourhoods, and the automatic-specific angle for that part of Dublin.
Quays, Luas tracks, and one-way grids. The hardest place in Ireland to learn manual.
Coastal hills, Killiney climbs, and Deansgrange. Dublin's highest pass-rate test centre.
Swords to Skerries, the airport, and the N2. Dual-carriageway pace from lesson one.
Tallaght, Lucan, and the N81. The only permanent southside test centre.
12-lesson programme
Every Irish learner needs 12 EDT lessons before sitting the test. Done in a manual, six of those go to clutch control. Done in our automatic, all 12 go to actual Dublin driving. The same logbook, the same RSA sign-off, faster progress.
Door-to-door pickup, cockpit walk-through, the basics. Within fifteen minutes you're rolling on a quiet street. No clutch drill, no biting-point hour spent in a car park.
Lessons 1-3Junctions, mirrors, position. Real Dublin roads. We work the streets near where you live so the routes already feel familiar by the third hour.
Lessons 4-6Roundabouts, dual-carriageway pace, the Belgard, the Stillorgan, the N81 approach. Whichever Dublin LA you're in, we cover the moves the examiner will ask you to do.
Lessons 7-9Polish, route rehearsal, the manoeuvres. By lesson 12 your logbook is signed and your instructor will tell you straight whether you're ready or whether one more pretest is the call.
Lessons 10-12Logbook signed at every lesson
Each EDT hour gets your instructor's signature on the spot. No lost hours, no chasing signatures, no admin between you and your test slot. Read more about the EDT programme if you're new to it.
Test day, ready
A pretest is the one lesson that decides whether you pass first time or come back next month. We run them at every Dublin RSA test centre, on the actual streets the examiner uses, in the same automatic you'll sit the test in. No surprises on the day.
The Jamestown Road roundabouts have faded lane markings and a lot of stop-start. In a manual, the Grade 2 faults pile up when you have to creep, brake, and feather the clutch all at once. An automatic takes one of those three off the table.
Book a pretest at Finglas
Station Road crests at the Hilltop and that is where a manual learner rolls back. The examiner sees it, marks it, and the test is harder to recover from there. An automatic holds itself on the gradient while you check mirrors and go.
Book a pretest at Raheny
Howth Road is bus-lane, then give-way, then bus-lane again. You are checking mirrors constantly. Clutch work is one more thing your head has to hold. An automatic lets you put that attention back on the road.
Book a pretest at Killester
The N81 merge from Belgard asks for a quick pickup into moving traffic. In a manual, picking the wrong gear costs you the gap. In an automatic the transmission selects the gear, so you are looking at the gap instead of choosing between third and fourth.
Book a pretest at Tallaght
Killiney is the steepest test ground in Dublin. A hill start on the Killiney climb, in a manual, with traffic behind you and a bend ahead, is the classic Deansgrange test moment. An automatic with hill-hold keeps the car still while you move from brake to accelerator. It is one less thing to fail on.
Book a pretest at Dún Laoghaire
Speed ramps then a 60 km/h stretch then back to 30 for a school zone. That cycle is the Damastown fingerprint. In an automatic, the gearbox handles the decel and reaccel so your speedo attention stays where it should be.
Book a pretest at Mulhuddart (Damastown)
Ballycoolin and the Jamestown roundabouts are the defining features here. Same problem as Finglas: worn markings, fast entries, and a lot of lane-picking. An automatic keeps your hands and feet free for the lane choice.
Book a pretest at Maple HouseEvery pretest includes the lesson plus the automatic for test day. Same instructor, same car, same roads. Check our pricing page for the pretest package rate.
The Dublin lineup
We're the automatic-only arm of RSA School of Motoring. 35 instructors covering every Dublin LA, dual-controlled automatic cars, and an 85% pass rate sitting on top of an RSA-approved EDT programme. Manual schools are still the default in Dublin. They shouldn't be.
Verified Google reviews. The most common phrase we hear: "I felt in control sooner than I expected."
Every instructor is on the RSA Approved Driving Instructor register. EDT-certified, dual-controlled, insured.
Home, college, or work. We collect you and drop you back. The hour you pay for is an hour you drive.
The pretest package includes the automatic for test day. You'll never sit your test in a car you've never driven.
EDT-certified, Dublin-trained
Every one of our Dublin instructors is on the RSA Approved Driving Instructor register, drives a dual-controlled automatic, and works the local roads they teach on every day. We don't ship instructors in from elsewhere. The instructor who picks you up in Phibsborough lives, drives, and tests learners in north Dublin. Same in every LA.
Quays, Luas tracks, one-way grids around Stoneybatter and Smithfield, and the Phibsborough triangle. Our north-side instructors know which side roads pop you out behind queues and which lights run short. Test centres: Raheny, Killester, Finglas.
Killiney climbs, Dalkey lanes, the Stillorgan, and the Deansgrange examiner routes. Every instructor here teaches hill starts on the actual gradients tested at Deansgrange, not generic slopes. Test centre: Dún Laoghaire (Deansgrange).
Swords, Skerries, Balbriggan, the airport access roads, and dual-carriageway pickup speeds out toward Drogheda. Our Fingal instructors run pretests covering both the Mulhuddart and Maple House routes from the local roads they share with you.
Belgard roundabout, the N81 approach, Lucan, Templeogue, and the school-run pinch points. The only permanent southside test centre is Tallaght and our south Dublin instructors run that route every week. Test centre: Tallaght.
Same rate across every Dublin LA. Door-to-door pickup, automatic-only, EDT certified.
